A gang of four was arrested in Coimbatore on Sunday for stealing a gold chain, gold ring and mobile phone from a man. One of the arrested gang members befriended the victim on a dating app before stealing his valuables, police said.

The arrested men included R. Karthikeyan, 27, from Kovilpatti Veeravanji Nagar, Tuticorin district; V. Mariselvam, 23, from Kayathar, Tirunelveli district; R. Abhiram, 19, from Kandanur, Trichy district; R. Hari Vishnu (21) of Kandanur. ). Pannakadu is located in Dindigul district. They were charged under Section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code.
Police said A. Thiyagarajan, 33, from Ramanathapuram district, was a family nurse and lived in a hut in Saravanapatti.

On Sunday, he lodged a complaint with Constable R. Senthilkumar of the Saravanampatti Investigative Unit, alleging that he used the Grindr dating app, where he befriended a man who identified himself as Rocky. They exchanged cell phone numbers.

While they were talking, three unidentified men arrived on two motorcycles, swearing at Thiyagarajan and demanding money from him. One of them threatened Thiyagarajan with a knife and stole a gold chain (6 grams), a gold ring (2 grams) and a mobile phone. They managed to escape the area.
