Mr Right on Time, the lead single from Bordeaux singer-songwriter Alexis Evans’ highly anticipated new album Yours Truly, is out now on all digital platforms. Produced and mixed by Louis-Marin Renaud (Lou Doillon, Theo Lawrence, Desmond Myers), Yours Truly is the artist’s third studio album, four years after his last LP I’ve Come A Long Way. Voted “Best Soul Album of the Year” by French Rolling Stone magazine. Yours Truly consists of 12 beautifully soulful tracks directly inspired by classic soul music of the 60s and 70s, adding a sound firmly rooted in the new millennium.
Speaking of the single, Alexis explained: “Love is perhaps the number one theme in soul music, and it obviously has a place in many of the songs on the album, including ‘Mr. But in a poetic way. I wrote the song while recording a track with some samples of Barry White’s drums.”
Yours Truly was recorded between Bordeaux and Nantes from 2021 to early 2022. The idea behind the new album was to find a unique sound that blended classic soul music from the 60s and 70s with more modern influences such as hip hop beats, jazz, reggae and Caribbean music. To this end, Alexis teamed up with producer Louis-Marin Renaud, known for his collaborations with Franco-British singer, actor and model Lou Doillon, and country soul rising star Theo Lawrence, who co-wrote the album. songs and mixes.
