Back in 2020, news broke that prominent evangelical Liberal University president Jerry Falwell Jr. and his wife Becki were involved in a sex scandal. A former lifeguard at a Miami hotel came up with a story about his seven-year sexual relationship with Becky. He claimed that Jerry sometimes watched (and filmed) her having sex.
Now, the scandalous story is the subject of a new Hulu documentary called “God Forbid: The Sex Scandal That Toppled a Dynasty,” which details the scandal and includes an interview with Granda.
Becky was not interviewed in the documentary (nor did Jerry). But she has spoken out about the scandal and her thoughts on the situation. Here’s her take on the whole thing and what happened to her after the story broke.

Becki Falwell is the wife of former Evangelical Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. and daughter-in-law of the late televangelist and Christian leader Jerry Falwell Sr.
Jerry Jr. and Becki met in 1987 when she was 13 years old. According to Vanity Fair, Jerry was a friend of Becky’s sister, and the two first dated when Becky was 23 and Becky was a freshman at 18. They fall in love and she leaves Liberty to become a waitress. The two later married after Jerry graduated from the University of Virginia Law School.
Although she’s been a housewife for two decades, Becky has also been involved in other conservative projects. She has served on the Trump Women’s Advisory Council and spoke with Jerry at the 2019 Conservative Political Action Conference.
Jerry and Becki have three children together: Jerry Falwell III (Trey), Caroline Grace and Charles Wesley. They also welcomed several grandchildren from the Falwell family.

Becki met Granda in 2012 while working as a 20-year-old lifeguard at a Miami hotel. The two began a multi-year sexual relationship, and in 2020, Granda went public with the story. He also claimed that Becki’s husband, who was then the president of Liberty University, would watch them have sex and provided Reuters with emails and texts showing the sexual nature of the relationship. Both Becky and Jerry deny this.
Granda appeared in a Hulu documentary to talk about it, and he also released a new book about the scandal, “Far From the Abyss: Jerry and Becky Falwell and the Collapse of the Evangelical Dynasty.”
