A woman is raising awareness about safe drinking on TikTok after she and her husband had a heartbreaking drinking experience at their wedding.
TikToker Brandy Billy shared the emotional story in the video below, which has garnered over 6 million views and 500,000 likes.
According to Billy, her husband’s drink was surreptitiously ordered off at their wedding. In the video’s caption, Billy expressed concern that her husband might pass out before the wedding.
To help him regain his composure before the ceremony, Billy pulled her future husband aside to give him some fresh air to calm him down. Billy tries to get her groom to recite his vows, but he’s clearly under the influence of drugs.
“I can’t. I can’t. I’m sorry,” said Billy’s groom. The couple almost cried.
“Let’s keep you out of the heat for a while, shall we?” Billy replied as she hugged him. Billy then said she needed to have a nurse check on her husband.
Despite the unfortunate setback, the wedding went ahead. For the rest of TikTok, it’s clear that Groom continues to struggle with his side effects.
Billy ends by describing the aftermath of the marriage; her husband is drug tested, and the wedding venue helps Billy investigate the refilling of the wedding drinks. The couple now know which guests were responsible, and they also know the substance mixed into the drink was Adderall.
“Lots of people mixing alcohol and Adderall on purpose to keep the party going longer! So they put sugar in other people’s drinks and think they’ll be hype all night,” Billy wrote in the caption. “We know who it is and yes it was treated!”
Adderall is only available by prescription, so recreational use can be dangerous. According to the Mayo Clinic, Adderall is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or narcolepsy. Although serious side effects of Adderall are rare, they can sometimes include irregular heartbeat, nausea, sweating, vomiting, trouble breathing, confusion, fainting, hallucinations, and seizures.
