The Highland Park varsity lacrosse team lost Wednesday’s home non-conference game against Warren Township (Gurnee, IL) by a score of 20-9.
Cole Wexler, who lived in Los Angeles, California, recently died a tragic death. His parents, Dr. David and Ida Wexler raised him in Bethall, New York, where they now live. He received his medical degree from the University of Vermont and received his medical education at the Chicago Medical School. He attended the University of Vermont and the Medical School of Chicago before completing a surgical residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Afterwards, he began to expand his knowledge of medical practice. He served his country for eight years with the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Reserve Corps. Immediately after graduating from medical school in 1971, he began his medical career at Bay Shore, New York. He remained at this location until his early retirement in 1998. During this time, he focused primarily on pediatric surgery. Almost immediately after his retirement, he uprooted his entire life and moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Helping others is Howard’s mission in life. His generosity shows in everything he does and he is the type of person who is always willing to help when needed.
Thanks to his work with the local homeowners association and his volunteer work with the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, he is able to form special relationships and friendships with everyone he meets. He enjoys meeting new people and forming strong friendships with those he meets. In his free time, he enjoys making new friends from other parts of the world over ham radio, participating in gin tournaments with his pals in Mirasol, and rooting for the outstanding law enforcement officers working on the PBG Police Department. His grandchildren and children think the world is him and affectionately call him Poppi. Karen Cobb, the woman he loved and the love of his life, his children Dan (Helen) Wexler of Delray Beach, Florida, Shelley (Mark) Rodman of Seville, New York, and Alpha, Georgia Andrew (Courtney) Wexler of Lita, and his grandson Andrew (Kourtney) Wexler from Alpharetta, Georgia.
