Daniel Bambrick Pei obituary and dead, Family and friends share memories

As Islanders grapple with the aftermath of a tragic accident in Marshfield last week, loved ones are opening up about the four individuals who lost their lives in the collision.

The unfortunate incident unfolded as three of the victims, along with another individual currently hospitalized, were traveling together to a youth group meeting in Charlottetown when their car was struck head-on by a pickup truck.

The three young lives lost in the crash are being fondly remembered as affectionate and compassionate by their families and friends.

Elijah Stewart, aged 12, and Isaiah Chaisson Makuza, aged 17, both brothers from Forest Hill, P.E.I., are among the departed. A third brother, 15-year-old Micah Stewart, sustained serious injuries in the collision and is presently recuperating in a Halifax hospital.

The third youth who tragically passed away was 18-year-old Laura Esther Vanderweerd from Green Meadows.

Elijah, described as a quiet and affectionate boy with a warm heart and a captivating smile, is remembered for his love of animals, spending time with friends, especially Ben Ross, and showering his mom with plenty of hugs, as mentioned in his obituary on the North Shore Funeral Home website.

Isaiah, remembered as his mom’s right-hand-man, a great listener, and a caring friend, is noted for his quick-witted nature, gifted writing skills, and passion for philosophy in his obituary.

Celebrations of life for Elijah Stewart and Isaiah Chaisson Makuza are anticipated at a later date.

A memorial for Laura Vanderweerd is set for Saturday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Charlottetown Bible Chapel, where all are welcome to attend and share memories of Laura.

The trio was part of a youth group at the Charlottetown Bible Chapel, en route to their weekly meeting when the tragic collision occurred. Travis DeVries, a youth leader at the chapel, fondly recalled them as fun and amiable individuals who were easy to talk to and brought joy to those around them.
