Czech police have reported that a shooting incident at Prague University on Thursday resulted in the loss of multiple lives and left numerous individuals injured.

According to ABC News, Leo Menindez, a resident of Mexico, recounted the chaotic scene that unfolded on the Charles Bridge. The sound of police sirens and ambulances filled the air, followed by the piercing sound of gunshots, causing a panic as people scattered in every direction.

On Thursday, the Czech police made an announcement regarding a tragic incident in the heart of Prague. A gunman entered a university building and caused multiple fatalities, as well as numerous injuries. However, the authorities swiftly took action and “eliminated” the assailant. In response to this alarming situation, the police promptly initiated the evacuation of the building. Updates on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, conveyed the message that several individuals lost their lives, while dozens sustained injuries at the scene.

Reports from Czech media indicate that the incident occurred at the Faculty of Art, prompting faculty members and students to secure themselves inside the building as law enforcement took action. Nova TV, a private television channel, stated that an explosion had occurred and that an individual armed with a weapon was situated on the rooftop of the structure, which is located in Prague’s historic center.

Public television was informed by Interior Minister Vit Rakusan that there is no evidence to support the existence of any additional shooter. He emphasized the importance of following the instructions provided by the police, who have closed off the area and advised residents to stay indoors within the confines of their homes.
