Jeffrey Dahmer, or “The Cannibals of Milwaukee” as they came to be known, was the subject of Ryan Murphy’s latest true crime drama and killed 17 men and boys, many of them Black, Asian and Hispanic. The murders occurred between 1978 and 1991, when he was eventually arrested.
MONSTER Dahmer tells the life story of Jeffrey Dahmer, which ends with his assassination by cellmate Christopher Scarver. However, many of the prequels and details surrounding Dahmer’s death have been left out of the Netflix series.
Who is Christopher Scarver? And where is he now? That’s all you need to know about the man who killed Jeffrey Dahmer.
Who is Christopher Scarver?
Christopher Scarver reportedly killed Jeffrey Dahmer when both were inmates at Columbia Correctional Facility in Portage, Wisconsin.
Scarver was born in 1969 and dropped out of high school. He trained as a carpenter in the Wisconsin Conservation Corps, eventually getting a commitment from Director Edward Patts.
However, Patz was fired before he could accept Scarver’s job. Scarver, an alcoholic who has smoked marijuana in recent years, went to the training center to confront staff when he learned he wouldn’t get the job.
At the center, he found 27-year-old Steve Lohman and field manager John Feyen. He pointed a gun at Loman, asking for money. When he was only given $15, Scarver shot Loman three times in the head.
Fein then gave Scarver $3,000 and his credit card for his safety, and after leaving the center, Scarver was arrested and arrested.
As described in Monster Dahmer, serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer was murdered by cellmate Christopher Scarver.
On November 28, 1994, Scarver (played in the Netflix drama Furly Mac) was cleaning with Dahmer and inmate Jesse Anderson. The three were left unattended for 20 minutes before Scarver beat Dahmer to death with a metal bar used for prison weights. He then attacked and killed Anderson, who was convicted of murdering his wife.
Why did Christopher Scarver want to kill Jeffrey Dahmer?
In the wake of the Dahmer and Anderson murders, many believed that Scarver’s killings were racially motivated because Dahmer’s victims were predominantly black. Anderson initially sent police to hunt down two black men accused of killing their wives.
However, the detectives investigating the Anderson and Dahmer murders did not support this theory. In a 2015 interview with the New York Post, Scarver said he murdered Dahmer because he thought he would not repent of his crimes.
He told the paper: “He crossed the line with some people – prisoners, prison staff. Some of those who were in prison repented – but [Dahmer] was not one of them.”
However, Scarver did not interact directly with Dahmer before murdering Dahmer.
