Former Vancouver Canucks captain Stan Smyl’s wife Jennifer passed away.
Longtime Vancouver Canuck Stan Smyl lost his wife of 42 years, Jennifer, through a statement from the team. The Aquilini family and Canucks organization expressed their deepest condolences.
Jennifer established Canuck Place — a Canucks charity — through her work as an active member of the team’s community.
We send our condolences to Jennifer’s family and friends.
While working at Severin’s Restaurant in Burnaby, Jennifer met her future husband for the first time. She was born and raised in New Westminster.
The Canucks used her as an off-court face in addition to her husband as he rose in status.
The Canuck Foundation opened a children’s hospice known as Canuck Place in 1995. Its name was changed to Canuck Place because its founder was publicly known for her good humor and sense of public service.
The team insisted that Stan’s family — Spencer, Natalie and Jilian — requested privacy.
