Castleford is being investigated after a video allegedly involving loose striker Joe Westerman was shared on social media at the weekend.
The video appears to show a man and a woman having sex in an alley at night.
It was shared on Twitter and resonated with the rugby union community on Sunday, leading to a statement from the club this morning.
The club’s brief statement read: “Castleford Tigers are aware of a video circulating on social media yesterday afternoon featuring a player. The matter is currently being dealt with internally and the club will not be making any further comment at this time.”
Former England international Westman returned to Castleford for the second time at the start of last season. He made 387 career appearances and also played for Hull City, Warrington, Toronto and Wakefield.
He made headlines in 2019 with a remarkable video in which he dislocated his knee during a televised match against Hull KR and was shown putting it back into shape.
The Castleford side travel to Westerman’s former club Hull City on Sunday to open their Premier League season.
