Florida walk-on Kaleb Boateng has tragically passed away. Gone way, way, WAY too soon
This OL has an impressive arm length and plays with toughness. He’s also athletic and a good marksman. Its initial punch leaves defenders stunned and winded. Its lower body possesses impressive strength. Smart and plays to whistle. Needs to improve knee bend to be more explosive at the snap and better sink his hips for leverage when moving laterally. Better technique is needed to maintain engagement while blocking. Increased upper body strength is needed to pull effectively. Tips plays with her physical appearance to communicate with the Power 5 school.
With less than a month until the 2021 regular season begins in Gainesville, the Gators have gained crucial depth at offensive tackle.
As first reported by Gators Territory, Florida State will welcome Clemson’s offensive line transfer to Kaleb Boateng as the go-to backup for ending his college career.
Boateng, who is 6-foot-4 and 293 pounds, attended Fort Lauderdale (Florida) High School and was listed as a three-star composite candidate in the 2018 recruiting class.
Boateng spent two seasons at Clemson — he surprisingly signed with one of the top three schools in Maryland, Arizona and Atlantic Florida — and played very little. He redshirted his freshman year and then had some pictures last season as a backup. After two years with Dabo Swinney and the Tigers, Boateng will return to Florida and pursue his career with the Orange and Blues.
Boateng joins 6-foot-7, 300-pound freshman Austin Barber, the two offensive tackles who received the 2021 recruiting class from offensive line coach John Hevesy. — otherwise he struggled during his second stint at Florida, looking for talent at the landing spot.
While Boateng is unlikely to be on the Gators field in 2021, the experience he gained at Clemson — albeit limited — and the extra body at the position provide the Gators A security blanket to prevent possible injury at the tackle point.
