Sugar Land’s newest barbershop, Diesel Barbershop Riverstone, will host a holiday toy drive this season to support local youth in need. Franchise owner Kunal Khorana said giving back is more important than ever at his salon this year.

“It’s been a tough year for all of us, especially the kids,” he said. “Some children may not wake up to gifts this year and we can help change that.”

Khorana asked for a new, unwrapped gift valued at $15 to $20 to be delivered to Diesel Barbershop Riverstone in the Village At Riverstone Shopping Center. Donations will go to charities that support local youth.

Franchise owner Kunal Khorana said Diesel Barbershop caters to today’s men’s needs for a barbering experience.

The new Riverstone location features eight barber chairs and a large television in each barber shop. Iconic Diesel decor blends a machine shop atmosphere with movie posters and fashionable artwork. Visitors to Diesel Barbershop definitely get a “man cave” experience: they can watch sports, play video games, listen to retro music (and choose their favorite!), enjoy a cold drink – all while having their hair trimmed, and enjoying delicious food . Trim beards etc. Facial shaving or eyebrow waxing.

Shop owner Kunal Khorana has been suffering from incurable kidney disease since he was 15 years old. He was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life after doctors prescribed drugs that eventually became part of the dangerous drugs scandal. Kunal said opening the salon is a personal victory for him and he hopes to serve the community where he has lived for 32 years. “Even after more than 30 surgeries and all the ailments he had to deal with, he still wanted to show young men and women that no matter what your circumstances were, you could do anything you put your mind to,” said Kunal, 32. Kunal is the youngest franchise owner of Diesel Barbershop.
