In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dayton Funny Bone is presenting “Laughing for a Cure” on Sunday, October 15.

Show organizer and promoter, Charmaine Petty Blunt, expressed her personal connection to the cause, stating, “I have friends and family affected by this disease, so I want to donate to their foundations.”

The fundraising event is dedicated to supporting Pink Ribbon Good (PRG) while offering attendees a night of laughter. PRG is an organization providing assistance to individuals battling breast cancer and their families, offering services such as meals, support, and transportation to treatment. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the event will be donated to PRG.

The evening will showcase Ohio-based comedians Comedienne Shinkey, Leyla Ingalls, and Karinne Turnbow, all known for their humor.

Comedienne Shinkey, a Columbus native, has shared the stage with comedians like Desi Banks, DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller, Kelly Kellz, TK Kirkland, and Joe Torry, and is described by Blunt as having an “amazing energy.”

Dayton-raised Ingalls began her comedy career in Austin, Texas, and returned to Dayton, delivering entertaining stories and clever one-liners. Blunt selected her for her upbeat personality.

Turnbow, hailing from Cincinnati, has been crafting jokes for over a decade, sharing the stage with comedy legends like Sam Jay, Tony Roberts, Godfrey, Sherly Underwood, and Joe Torry. Blunt commended her ability to perform both clean and edgy comedy.

Local comedian Dionte Allen will host the show. In addition to the laughter, the event will feature a 50/50 raffle and a gift basket raffle, with tickets available on the day of the show. Various vendors will also be selling items such as candles, mugs, and apparel.
