Mason Coates dead, Commerce Candidate at UVA McIntire obituary

Goedecke was filming a music video when someone took his $120 backpack, which contained $480 worth of items. Godek then tracked down Mason Coates, who was driving a white vehicle, according to the indictment. Godek walked up to the car, opened the door and confronted Mason Coates, who then pointed a gun at Godek, the document said.

The jury found Mason-Coates not guilty of first-degree and second-degree attempted murder, two counts of handgun and one count of theft.

Mason-Coates was sentenced to 20 years, 10 probation, for aggravated assault and 20 years, 15 probation, for felony use of a firearm. These sentences will run concurrently. The manslaughter conviction has been combined with the offense for sentencing. He was sentenced to 789 days in prison.
