A Myanmar OnlyF model has been jailed for six years for posting nude photos on an adult subscription service.
Model and former doctor Nang Mwe San was convicted by a military court on Tuesday of “damaging culture and dignity” for posting “pornographic” photos and videos online for a fee under Section 33(A) of Myanmar’s Electronic Transactions Act.
The verdict was widely criticized as being politically motivated. The 34-year-old, who has participated in previous protests against the junta, is believed to be the first person in the country – and possibly the first in the world – to be jailed for OnlyF content.
Police arrested Nang Mwe San on August 5 on charges of “distributing suggestive photos and videos on foreign websites for a fee” to defile Myanmar culture. Nang Mwe San was living under martial law in parts of Myanmar when she was arrested, and she was denied legal representation and tried by a military court.
