Before joining defense contractor SAIC, Pamela Hargan was one of the senior human resources managers at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. The divorced mother of three had a successful career, buying a $1.3 million property in Washington, D.C.’s wealthy McLean, Virginia.
Hargan’s three wives – Pamela and her two daughters, Meghan and Helen – appeared to be living a perfect life until the summer of 2017. On July 14, 2017, May, then 37, shot and killed her mother Pamela and 23-year-old sister Helen, according to reports. Anger, jealousy, and greed fuel murder.

That’s not all, however, as Meghan Harlan tries to blame her own dead sister Helen for her mother’s death.
Meghan Hagen, the defendant in the Hagen murders, was convicted in March 2022. In a few months, CBS 48 Hours will revisit the brutal double homicide in an upcoming episode airing Saturday, October 1, 2022. The episode, titled Tod Hits Home: The Hargan Killings, will air at 10 p.m. ET.
Here’s everything you need to know about Pamela Hagan and her seemingly perfect family (at least until 2017) ahead of the series’ premiere.
After the murder, it was discovered that while the Hagen women seemed like a perfect family, they struggled for a while before the murder.
One relative even described their relationship as “troublesome”. Meghan is reported to be jealous of her sister Helen and often feels her mother prefers her.
Pamela Hargan, 63, is looking forward to retirement, sources said. At the time, her eldest daughter, Megan Hargan, was married to a West Virginia man and lived with her 7-year-old daughter at the McClainer home for several years.
Meanwhile, Pamela’s youngest daughter, Helen, returned home in the spring of 2017 after graduating from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Helen is reportedly waiting for the construction of the new house her mother bought for her before she goes to graduate school. This allegedly made Meghan very jealous.
Pamela Hagan’s sister Tamara North has claimed for years that Meghan is very fond of her sister Helen. She added that although Meghan and her second sister Ashley helped raise Helen while her mother was away on business, the hatred only grew over time.
