Samantha was shot dead by police at Covenant Presbyterian Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. According to Aaron, the gunman died at 10:27 a.m. The first call about the shooting came in at 9:30 a.m.
Aaron said one officer was injured by broken glass, but others were not known to have been injured.
The shooting was just the latest in a long string of such atrocities. Less than a year ago, 19 children and two teachers were killed at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. In recent weeks, a 6-year-old in Virginia shot and killed his teacher, and a student in Denver, Colorado shot and killed two administrators who frisked him daily for behavioral issues.
