🌟 Exploring the Intersections of Body, Health, and Sport: Meet Dr. Samantha King, PhD! 🌈🏋️‍♀️

Greetings, curious minds! 🌐 I’m Dr. Samantha King, a passionate interdisciplinary scholar delving into the intricate web of the body, health, and sport. Trained in cultural studies and sociology, I employ feminist, queer, and critical race theories to unravel the diverse threads woven into topics ranging from drugs to food.

📚 Journey Through Research:
My academic journey has led me to explore the embodied dimensions of consumer culture through a critical lens. In my debut book, “Pink Ribbons, Inc: Breast Cancer and the Politics of Philanthropy,” I delve into the complex intersections of breast cancer, activism, and philanthropy. This work has even inspired an enlightening NFB documentary, which you can explore here: Pink Ribbons, Inc. Documentary

🎓 Graduate Student Opportunities:
Passionate about qualitative research on the diverse facets of consumer culture? I welcome students at all levels (MA, PhD, postdoctoral) to join me on this intellectual journey. Previous graduates have explored themes such as student mental health, Movember, hockey nostalgia, and more. Canadian applicants, don’t miss the chance to apply for external funding from SSHRC or CIHR.
