A man has been killed and another seriously injured following a shooting in west Dublin this evening. The shooting happened at a restaurant on Main Street in Blanchardstown. The deceased, about 20 years old, was said to be one of the gunmen and suffered an apparent fatal stab wound.

A man in his 40s suffered a gunshot wound and remains in hospital in critical condition. A gun was found at the scene. The latest gang-related armed attack occurred just after 8 p.m. as patrons of Brown’s Steak House, including families with children, were dining out on Christmas Eve. A father and son who were also in the restaurant and who knew the police were attacked by a gunman who shot them several times as patrons ran away screaming.

Terrified parents rushed from the scene of the accident with their young children. A man was shot and wounded and taken to Connolly Hospital by relatives. The gunman was attacked on the spot and seriously injured.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Connolly Hospital, where he was sentenced a short time later. The Blanchardstown Police Department has launched a full investigation. The crime scene has been cordoned off and the road has been closed for forensic investigations.

Investigators are still trying to reconstruct the incident and speak with witnesses. They are carrying out CCTV surveillance and are appealing to anyone with information to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station

Police are aware that both victims were involved in serious and organized crime. Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related and related to an ongoing dispute over drugs and guns.
