Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prima Indonesia University (Unpri) Medan explained that the five bodies found on the 15th floor of one of the campus buildings were not murder victims, but rather cadavers used for medical education purposes. Cadavers are corpses that are usually used by medical students for anatomy practicum.

Previously, a video showing several bodies submerged in a tub of water went viral on social media, triggering a stir and causing the police to carry out an investigation on the campus. Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, said that the police had formed a team from the forensic laboratory and Inafis to investigate the discovery of the body.

Forensic Pathology Specialist Doctor at Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital (RSCM) Jakarta, Ade Firmansyah, explained that the presence of cadavers is a common thing in medical faculties. However, there are certain conditions so that cadavers can be used as a means of studying anatomy, explained the Head of the Anatomy Department, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Sasanthy Kusumaningtyas.

The police indicated that the location where the body was found in a water tank at Prima Indonesia University (Unpri) Medan was part of their investigation. A 15-second video showing a body allegedly submerged in a tub of water has gone viral on social media. On Monday night, police from the Medan Police went to the location to check the veracity of the video.

Even though it was reported that police officers were prevented from entering by uncooperative campus officials, the police still managed to enter the building and went straight to the location where the body was allegedly found.
